Asphalt shingles are generally the most cost-effective material, while Euroshield® Rubber Shingles and metal roofing systems are more expensive. That really depends on the roof's age and its condition. Repair: Minor issues like a few missing shingles or small, localized leaks on a relatively new roof (under 15-20 years for asphalt) can often be repaired cost-effectively.
Replacement: A full replacement is usually more economical in the long run if the roof is old (nearing or past its lifespan), has extensive damage (over 30% of the roof area), or requires frequent, recurring repairs.
Look for:
Missing, cracked, curled or buckling shingles.
Excessive shingle granule loss (often visible in gutters).

While it does save money (reduced labour cost) and is possible with asphalt shingles, it is generally not the best practice. Removing the old roof allows us to inspect the underlying roof deck for damage and ensure a proper, long-lasting installation.
